Why Are Christians So Afraid to Slow Down?
One of the hardest things for many Christians today is silence.
Not because silence is bad.
But because silence forces us to face what distraction helps us avoid.
So we stay busy.
We stay scrolling.
We stay mentally occupied.
Because slowing down feels uncomfortable.
When life gets quiet, deeper thoughts begin to surface:
fear
anxiety
doubt
exhaustion
questions we’ve been avoiding
And for overthinking Christians, this can feel overwhelming.
But throughout Scripture, God often spoke in stillness — not chaos.
The problem is that many of us want peace without slowing down long enough to actually receive it.
We want clarity while constantly distracted.
We want rest while refusing to be still.
We want closeness with God while our minds are always somewhere else.
Sometimes the reason we feel spiritually drained is not because God is distant.
It’s because we’ve become uncomfortable with quiet.
But silence is often where God begins to reveal what distraction has been hiding.
Slowing down does not mean you’re failing.
Resting does not mean you’re lazy.
Being still is not weakness.
Sometimes slowing down is the very thing God uses to draw us closer to Him.
“If this resonated with you, you’re not alone.”
